In support of an interactive sound art installation, Pull Through, created by my brother, Nick Campbell, I created a custom motor sequence programmer. The installation experimented with various novel methods for created sound with guitars, including via brushes attached to various motors. This device allowed Nick to specify certain sequences, and combinations of sequences, as selectable programs. These programmed sequences were combined with other manually triggered sounds to create a rich soundscape.
The end result was device capable of driving up to five motors independently with custom-programmed sequences. The driver was contained in a wooden enclosure, and was equipped with a power switch, button to advance between multiple combinations of sequences (i.e., programs), and an LED display indicating the currently selected program.
